The 2009 Wobbuffet (040/L-P) Japanese Promo Pokémon card is a rare, holofoil promotional card released at the 2009 Challenge Plaza events.

These were large-scale promotional events hosted in department stores and shopping malls across Japan, starting from 2008, featuring activities like beginner teaching sessions, lotteries, free battles, trading areas, and “Card Get Battles” - short tournaments where players competed in up to 5 single-elimination matches until they lost.

This Wobbuffett was given as a participation prize for those who crafted a 60 card deck and participated in the tournament.
